Darling Daisy!

If you have been here a while or met me in person, you will know I love a good 70’s fashion moment, and as I have been exploring a hobby of sewing over the past year, I have found myself getting drawn to the Daisy motif. Once I looked into the symbolism of the Daisy, I fell more in love with it and had to explore it further with the Daisy Ring.

The daisy, with its simple yet enchanting design, has long been associated with purity, innocence, and beauty. Its pristine white petals and sunny yellow centre evoke feelings of freshness and joy. The flower has deep roots in various cultures, often symbolising new beginnings, love, and the beauty of nature.

Historically, the daisy has been featured in literature, art, and folklore, embodying diverse meanings. In medieval times, it was a symbol of the Virgin Mary’s purity. During the Victorian era, the language of flowers, or floriography, was popular, and the daisy represented innocence and loyal love. Artists like Vincent van Gogh and William Wordsworth celebrated the daisy in their works, immortalising its charm.

In the vibrant and revolutionary eras of the 1960s and 1970s, the daisy motif experienced a resurgence that echoed the spirit of the times. This period, marked by social change, self-expression, and a rejection of traditional norms, saw the daisy emerge as a symbol of peace, love, and freedom. The flower’s simplicity and association with nature perfectly complemented the laid-back, bohemian aesthetic of the counterculture.

As I had so much fun exploring the Daisy motif in our Daisy Bangle in 2023, the New Daisy Ring is a cute addition that can give a nod to the nature lovers and yet be a subtle addition to your jewellery collection. A great ring to layer and stack in with the rest of your ring collection.

The circular arrangement of the daisy petals symbolises unity and wholeness, making it a perfect gift for commemorating bonds and milestones. Whether worn as a symbol of friendship, love, or personal growth, the daisy ring is a reminder of the interconnectedness of life.

I love the sense of renewal that the Daisy has as using all recycled Sterling Silver to create the piece, reinforces that idea as it can be again made anew over and over like the Daisy with come back and flower year after year.

I hope you have enjoyed our little exploration of the Daisy print and learnt more about it’s rich history. Check out the Daisy Ring and Bangle available online now. If you have any other associations with the Daisy motif, I would love to hear it either via comment, email or on our socials.

xx Corinne
